1917 - Original Art
100 years ago last month the U.S. entered the Great War in Europe. Even though WWI was a CENTURY ago, there's only one degree of separation between me and a couple of WWI vets. I was talking to my 90 year old neighbor yesterday and found out that her father was a medic in the war. He was hit by shrapnel from a bomb and was badly injured, but survived the war. My father would tell me stories of his uncle who was in the infantry and suffered from horrible lung damage because of gas warfare.
So today I drew this in honor of those who died in WWI and the people who knew them.
